sNational Junior Honor Society is New Providence Middle School's most prestigious student group with members selected by invitation only upon maintaining the rigorous academic and behavior expectations of an elite student. Students are inducted in the spring to recognize their achievements of the year and must maintain a 93% average in their four core academic classes (Math, Reading/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) as well as receive zero discipline points throughout the year. Finally, students must be approved by the Advisor's Council which consists of the students teachers, administrators and the NJHS advisor.
Our induction ceremony will take place in May and students will be informed of their invitation in April. Formal invitations will be mailed home at least two weeks prior to the ceremony. Make sure to maintain the core pillars of National Junior Honor Society if you wish to be inducted this spring: Character, Scholarship, Citizenship, Leadership, and Service.
If you are a prospective member, you may also participate in community service and be recognized at the induction ceremony with a certificate. In order to earn this, you must complete 8 or more hours of community service. This service must NOT benefit you or an organization you belong to (we do not recognize service for anything you receive compensation for, any activity that raised money for an organization you are already affiliated with - like any Scouts program or a church activity that is raising money for a group you belong to such as a youth group) Other church activities (volunteering at an event, setting up or tearing down an event) would qualify. You must get an NJHS Community Service form completed and turned in to the NJHS advisor no later than April 15 to have it apply to the induction ceremony. You can find the form below or from the NJHS advisors Mr. Thieleman in room 215 down the 8th grade hallway or Ms. Juengel in room 106 in the 6th grade hallway.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Thieleman or Ms. Juengel.
